1.      Fantasy violence with medieval weapons (swords, daggers, magic staff) 

2.      Fantasy violence of wolves against humans (such as dragging them offstage)

3.      Political dehumanization (such as the villagers thinking the 'cursed humans' are lesser than they are.  There is a whole musical number titled "They're Barely Human" in Act II).

4.      Sensuality and suggestive subtext 

5.      One instance of a character swearing dramatically (this can easily be omitted)

6.      Death (which can be tamed by executing it offstage)

The Wolves of Winter is inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale “The Snow Queen,” Disney’s “Frozen” (2013) and “Frozen II” (2019), Antonio Vivaldi’s “Winter” from “The Four Seasons,” and a personal nightmare.  The author hopes to inspire those who witness this musical to conquer their fears and face their ‘wolves.’
